Bloodfire Orchards Offered Free Fresh & Potted Turmeric at the Strawberry Festival in Reynolds

If you had a chance to get to the Georgia Strawberry Festival this past weekend, you would have experienced the most beautiful weather and the smell of smoking barbequed meats as Elvis serenaded you from the gazebo. It’s enough to make you want to move to the country.

Bloodfire Orchards was there giving away fresh dried turmeric rhizomes and educating people about the new organic orchard in Reynolds and how to use and plant turmeric as well as the health benefits of this amazing plant. The level of interest for this crop was inspiring and exciting. This is a new crop for Georgia with only a very few growing it over the last several years. But it grows well in the sandy soil below the fall line or knat line and with its rhizomes safely tucked under the ground, it is pretty protected from the things that can be damaging in the garden.

I got a lot of questions on how to consume it, cook with it, and plant it. I will start posting here regularly to provide you with lots of useful resources on this amazing and healthy plant. Follow Bloodfire Orchards on Facebook and/or Instagram to know when I post something new!
