Welcome to Bloodfire Orchards
Heather Fritz, founder of Bloodfire Orchards, LLC is an architectural photographer and drone pilot by trade and owns Bloodfire Studios in Woodstock, Georgia.
After a corporate career, a battle with breast cancer in 2010 and owning a successful photography studio, she and her husband obtained land in Taylor County, Georgia, initially for harvesting organic venison.
“I felt God telling me to grow food and Grow NOW,” explains Heather. “So I started learning and stumbled upon Restoration Agriculture, a book by Mark Shepard. The more I dove into permaculture, the more I felt like this methodology was for me and it connected all the dots that we have spent our civilization breaking apart into specializations until we have broken the natural order.”
After learning about Permaculture in early 2022 and the benefits of nut trees and how our commercial agriculture isn’t sustainable, Heather felt led to design a permaculture inspired orchard on 17 acres around a perennial food forest with nuts and fruit as well as medicinals like turmeric and elderberry.
With a passion for natural medicine, Heather sees her efforts advancing into botanical medicine with an emphasis on reducing inflammation in the body - a leading cause of cancer - and alleviating menopause symptoms.
I would love to connect with anyone looking to consume organic locally grown medicinal crops as well as anyone growing organically. While this is new to me at the age of 48 in 2022, I am eager to consume knowledge and appreciate the opportunity to learn from others’ wisdom. One day I hope to be that mentor farmer for someone else.
I would love to turn this orchard into a project that can help spread the principals of natural farming, food forests, homemade fertilizers and pesticides and sculpting the land to irrigate with existing rainwater.
If any of this speaks to you, please reach out to me!
